Under consumer protection, CREAT is focusing on several public utility services like electricity, telecom, transport etc. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has recognised CREAT as one of the voluntary consumer advocacy group. The activities related to telecom include conducting of workshops, seminars, capacity building programs and handling of complaints relating to telecom service. CREAT is also representing consumer grievances before TRAI. Besides, CREAT has taken up telecom advocacy by way of sending its comments to consultation papers, participating in public hearings etc. CREAT in collaboration with TRAI had organized a Karnataka state level workshop during May 2008 in which 60 representatives of civil society organisations took part. As part of its activities, CREAT has produced a handbook containing various rules, regulations of interest to consumers issued by TRAI.

TRAI is organizing the Southern Regional Workshop for consumer organisations at Mysore on 12th June 2009. CREAT will be presenting a paper on 'Consumers Participation in Telecom Regulatory Process'. A newsletter entitled 'TELECONSUMER' will be released during the workshop.
